How did you discover your passion for music?
I’ve been in choirs ever since second grade, and I have also taken cello lessons, so music has always been a part of my life. It wasn’t until sophomore year of high school when I saw my first opera that I knew I wanted to study music. The collaboration of music, dance and art that created an epic masterpiece made me fall in love with it immediately!
What’s your favorite part about performing?
The thrill of being on stage singing for others and using all your emotions to them to touch their hearts through music.
What’s the hardest part for you about performing?
Not analyzing your performance while it’s going on and silencing the negative voice in your head.
Why did you pick the Moores School of Music at Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts (KGMCA)?
I chose KGMCA because Moores School of Music has a fantastic faculty, lots of performing opportunities and is part of a wonderful city rich with arts and cultures.
What has been your favorite part of the Moores School of Music?
The environment. Everyone is very supportive and the friends I’ve made here through operas and choirs have become some of my best friends. There is always fun to be had here!
How do you think this program will help you in what you want to do next?
I really feel that Moores has provided me with essential tools and skills for being a better performer, and has given me great connections for graduate programs, which is the next step.
Where do you imagine yourself in 10 years?
I hope to be performing in some capacity, singing opera and doing my best to make a career out of it!
